Marketing Mentorship at TecTonic Night Summit 2026

Hosted by: TecTonic Night Summit, part of Glasgow Tech Week 2026

Date: Thursday, 10 September 2026 · 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm BST

Location: Mentor Mezzanine, Barras Art and Design (BAaD), Glasgow

About the event

Adding another marketing channel won’t settle the question of who you’re for. If that answer keeps changing, every campaign has to invent its own reason for someone to care. More activity just makes the uncertainty more expensive.

You pay for attention. You pay for content. You pay for another attempt. When the response still doesn’t come, it’s your budget, your team’s time and your confidence in the next decision that take the hit.

At TecTonic Night Summit 2026, I offered three 30-minute one-to-one sessions on the Mentor Mezzanine, sponsored by Barclays Eagle Labs. My topics were Strategic Positioning, Growth Marketing and Brand Storytelling, with space for attendees to discuss their own challenges rather than sit through a standard presentation.

The mentoring was free for TecTonic ticket holders, with appointments arranged through the organisers. No pitch deck was required. Just a real problem worth putting on the table.

What you’ll learn

These were individual mentoring conversations, not a fixed syllabus. Depending on the challenge brought to the session, useful questions to explore included:

  • Clarify who your offer is for and what makes it worth choosing over the alternatives.
  • Examine whether your marketing activity follows a clear commercial priority or simply keeps the team occupied.
  • Shape a brand story around the change customers want, rather than a list of things your business does.
  • Challenge the assumptions behind a stalled campaign, unclear proposition or weak customer response.
  • Identify a small marketing test to run the following week, with a clear question it needs to answer.

Who it’s for

  • You’re putting time and money into marketing, but can’t explain which activity is helping customers choose you.
  • Your business sounds different in every pitch, proposal and website rewrite.
  • You suspect customers value something different from the benefit you lead with, but have never tested it.
  • You’re building a creative or technology-led business and need to connect the work you’re proud of to a reason someone would pay.
  • You’re preparing your next growth push and want to challenge the thinking before committing more budget.
